2023– 2024 Master’s Message

Worshipful Master W Bro Thomas I.G. Ross

I would like to begin by thanking all my fellow Brethren of Cornwallis Lodge for entrusting me with the duty of Worshipful Master. My journey to the East was made possible by the work and dedication of the many who came before me.

We have had a few years of difficulties caused by the pandemic, followed by our Brother Tom Murdoch being called to lay down his working tools much earlier than we had wished. I hope to now do right by everyone and continue the positive momentum built by our recent Past Master. 

  I would like to give thanks to the exemplary work done by RW Bro James R Withers for the task he has completed as Master of Cornwallis Lodge. To take the gavel in such short notice while achieving what he has this past year is a testament to his work-ethic and overall dedication to the Craft. I can only hope to live up to this high standard as we continue forward.

Our new home in Bedford has demonstrated how quickly the Freemason community can mobilize to help one another. Our migration from Dartmouth may as well be a blessing in disguise as I witnessed the welcome we received from our hosts in Bedford. I hope with the installation of the new chairlift we will be able to invite our less mobile brothers to attend Lodge and re-engage with the Craft.

I will work hard to maintain Cornwallis Lodge’s reputation for visitation and high standard of degree-work. I want the Lodge to continue our trajectory as we near our 100th Anniversary.
